Make your own Laundry Soap
1/3 bar Fels Naptha Soap, grated
1/2 cup Borax
1/2 cup Washing Soda (not baking soda)
2 gallons of water
(I found all of the above ingredients at my local Kroger store in the laundry aisle.) You'll have about $10 tied up in the ingredients. 1 bar of soap will last you 3 batches and the other boxed ingredients will last you years!
Using your box grater, grate 1/3 bar of Fels Napth soap. In a small pot, melt the soap with about 2 cups of water.
Pour 2 gallons of water in a bucket. Add the Fels mixture along with the Borax and Washing Soda. Stir well. A stick mixer works well. Cover and let sit for 12-24 hours. Will become like a gel. Mix again and it is ready for use.
1/2 cup per load.
optional: add your 10-15 drops of your favorite oil of essence.

I am wishing for some cloth shopping bags that were better size as sometimes they are too heavy and also hoping someone will teach the staff how to use the bags so you stuff does not end up damaged-- ideas?

- Hey everyone! Sorry I've been away. Summer has been CRAZY!!! Hopefully I'll be in and out more since school has begun. Found out that I have an old friend who's the senior editor of a "Green" magazine in Florida. I'll give you the detail after I contact him about it. It really looked cool!

Kel...I'm with you. After a while the clutter drives me crazy! I also clean pretty well when I'm mad. It's funny. The kids pick up on it when I'm running around the house cleaning EVERYTHING!
I love rearranging! Even as a teen I would switch rooms while my parents were at work. They never knew which room I was going to be sleeping in when they got home! :-)

- Here's your challenge...use less paper towels! Use old rags or towels then wash them. You'll be amazed! I used to buy paper towels by the dozen, use them once and throw them away. Mainly for convenience. Now 1 roll of paper towels will last me 2 weeks. I keep it hidden under the sink so it's not easily accessible.
