Help give children in QwaQwa, South Africa a special Christmas gift. 70 children are in need of shoes.
Susan's Kids (a 501c3 Christian Charity) supports the Changing Tomorrow's Children Foundation in QwaQwa South Africa by providing money for physical and spiritual nourishment.
This Christmas, my mom and I are helping with a project to raise funds to buy shoes for 70 children at the Center. Many of the kids walk a mile to school with torn and battered shoes.
“Our prayer is for hearts to be touched, and for people to show the love of Jesus by blessing these children with a Christmas beyond their imaginations,” says Debbie Roberson. (The charity was started in memory of her daughter Susan, who passed away in 2004.)
You can spend a few minutes with these precious children by visiting www.changingtomorro w.net. To donate visit www.susanskids. com
Please pray about the is project and spread the word. We are hoping to raise at least $1500 (shoes are $10-$20 a pair). Any extra money will be used to provide Christmas dinner. You can donate online or send a check through the mail. I am not asking for money to be sent to me.
I published an article about the Christmas Shoes Project in my local paper. If you'd like to read it, email me and I'll send you the PDF.

Give a listen to this song by Da Truth. Don't let the urban sound throw you off. There is more truth in this three minute song than in many 30 minute sermons.

A girl after God's own heart. Striving to do His will and to make my life, thoughts, words and actions for God's glory.

Here's way more stuff about me than you ever wanted to know.
Work takes up a big part of my life. I enjoy those pesky habits of eating and living in a house. I work full-time as the children's services coordinator at a public library; which means I plan and execute all the children's programs at the library. I'm a part-time reporter for a twice weekly newspaper. I'm also a contributing writer for a quarterly travel and tourism magazine, Down East Magazine, which covers 7 counties in Northeast North Carolina.

I'm also a freelance writer.
I'm 5 classes away from earning my associates degree in Community Journalism. I hope to graduate in Dec.
When I'm not work I enjoy Reading, Writing, Rodeo, Baseball, the Outdoors, Church activities, and most importantly deepening my relationship with God.
I'm writing fiction that has Christian themes weaved in the plots.
There's usually a Christian CD playing at my house. It doesn't matter what genre of Christian music as long as the lyrics are Biblically based and Biblically sound. Unfortunately I think some of Christian is no more than pop in a Christian package. I also listen to some Country, Southern Rock, Traditional/classic country. Today's country makes me gag.
I'm a "student" of Way of the Master, with Kirk Cameron, Ray Comfort, and, Todd Friel. On the web, www.wayofthemaster.com, www.wotmradio.com, www.wayofthemasterradio.com
I watch way too many crime shows like Law and Order, Criminal Minds, Numbers, Cold Case Files, etc. I love black and white "classic" tv, The Andy Griffith show, Donna Reed, Patty Duke, etc. and black and white movies. My favorite classic movie stars are Cary Grant and Humphrey Bogart.
Big Surprise, I love to read. My favorite authors are Dee Henderson, Susan May Warren, Terri Blackstock, Susan Mae Warren, Gail Gaymer Martin, Nicholas Sparks, Karen Kingsbury, AW Tozer, Charles Spurgeon, John MacArthur, Ray Comfort, Elisabeth Elliot.
Favorite Book Series: the O'Malley's by Dee Henderson, Uncommon Heroes by Dee Henderson, Mussion Russia and Team Hope by Susan May Warren, the Newpoint 911 series by Terri Blackstock (these books are great good for guys and gals b/c they have mystery, suspense, and a little romance-not enough to scare the guys away ;) and most important they will lead you back to the Bible.

Moonshine, chiltlins and more good ole southern stuff (Down East Magazine-Winter 2008)

Moonshine, chitlins and more good ole southern stuff
Local photographer preserves state’s past

By HEATHER HARDEN

“You never knew what to expect on a moonshine raid,” says E. Frank Stephenson Jr., author of “Carolina Moonshine Raiders.”
“The (moonshine) still might be booby trapped or there could be a bear feeding on the corn mash. And we never knew if the owner was going to be home or not.”
And so begins another adventure through rural North Carolina from photographer and author Frank Stephens… Continue

$1,500
I took a deep breath as I read the figure in the email.
$1,500 is more money than I bring home in a month.
The enormous figure made me wonder if I'd made a mistake.
I’d just gotten a reply from an email I’d inquiring about a Christmas project. My mom and I wanted to do something special for Christmas for the children of QwaQwa, South Africa. The children live in extreme poverty. We were thinking maybe we could send some shoe boxes, similar to what Samaritans Purse does.
When we asked Wim… Continue

My Article in April Heartbeat

In the April issue of Heartbeat the Magazine, read about Karen, a 26-year-old Multiple Sclerosis patient. http://www.heartbeatthemagazine.com/assets/2008/04-April/040708churchofthemonth.htm

Here's a preview

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7

Walking by Faith for a Cure for Multiple Sclerosis

Every step Karen Holliday-Bailey takes is by faith.
Her steps are especially precious because just a few years ago, she depended on a walker and a wheelchair, barely able to walk bec… Continue

Heather, thank you for the kind comments! I have just returned from working in Virginia.
I am always available to answer questions regarding makeup and invite anyone to send me a question. One of the best ways to conceal acne scars is to use an airbrush which requires a special airbrush machine and foundation makeup. This is not yet easily accessible and somewhat difficult to use on yourself, but effective. The problem with any scar is that it is a disturbance to the dermis which cannot be covered. The best thing to do is to keep the area more mat than shiney so the light does reflect any crevase unnecessarily.
It is so good to hear that people are generously working for the needs of others - congratulations on your project!! Thank you so much for writing me!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
